Lourdes is the Founder and CEO of Karta Legal LL, a legal operations and technology management consulting firm. I am graduate of the University of Pennsylvania Law School, a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, and a Legal Project Manager.
Mrs. Fuentes have over 20 years of legal operations, technology management, and litigation experience. Throughout my career, as a partner in private practice and in my current role, I have represented governmental and quasi-governmental agencies, as well as publicly-held Fortune 100 companies. I am honored to have been recognized as a Trailblazer by the New York Law Journal for being an “agent of change, thought leader and innovator.” In 2021, my consulting company, Karta Legal LLC, was named a Legal Technology Trailblazer by the prestigious National Law Journal. This award is very meaningful because our young company was selected amongst a choice of titans for its fresh approach to legal tech innovation. It is also very meaningful to us because it appears that we are the only 100% women and minority owned company on that distinguished list.
At I have assembled an entire ecosystem to help your organization in its legal innovation journey. In my team, I have experts in process mapping, technology, AI, cybersecurity, data science, e-discovery, project management, and litigation support. We know what works, what doesn’t, and how much it should cost.
My goal is innovation and re-designing the delivery of legal services. The path to innovation is simple. First, focus on the people. Second, design or redesign the process. Third, pick the right technology for your specific needs and your budget. To achieve those goals, I use a variety of design thinking and business process improvement tools selected from Lean Six Sigma and Agile Project Management methodologies. Over the years, I have curated and tailored these tools to fit the needs of the legal industry and have applied them successfully. Included in my innovation goal is the diversification of talent in the legal industry because, simply put, it is good for business.

Hello! I’m James and I’m here to help provide Karta with technology solutions to process optimization & implementation! Although it looks like I spend all day in front of a keyboard due to my apparent lack of broadness in the shoulders - I promise… I do workout (add me on Activity on Apple Watch and we can compete). I have a passion for learning new things, and finding out the real value in the lessons at hand.
Although I’m fairly young, I’ve found the joy in waking up as if every day could be my last. Living in the present has taught me that truly anything is possible and my track record can prove it. Part of the 2022 class of Columbia University Fu Foundation of Engineering I am working towards a BS in Computer Science Intelligent Systems. Also an avid self-learner from Youtube and every form of free media, I hope to extract this value from all experiences and see a brighter future for everyone.

" Stand on the shoulders of Giants"
Lee Shubert began his career in the eDiscovery and litigation support industry ten years ago and found it a natural fit for his law school training and background in technology. He joined Grais & Ellsworth’s Litigation Support Department in 2015, and has been their Litigation Support Coordinator since January 2017. In September 2018, he became solely responsible for litigation support functions and vendors for the firm, reporting directly to the managing partner. He has been with Karta since its founding in the role of Director of Litigation Support and Discovery Strategy. He has a demonstrated history managing large teams of contract attorneys and lawyers, project management, and communicating technical topics to case teams.
Throughout his career, he has repeatedly worked with attorneys to refine their eDiscovery processes and other systems. He has helped create and then train users on new systems, and has succeeded in making colleagues more aware and willing to reach out regarding potential uses of technology to increase efficiency. He has worked with simple code-writing and scripting to solve bulk or repetitive tasks for specific problems brought to him. He is an expert on best practices for litigation support departments and stays current on new rulings, tools, and trends within the industry. He has successfully led the implementation of several improvements to Grais & Ellsworth processes during his tenure. Over the last years, he has begun giving back to the industry by participating in speaking opportunities to help spread awareness of the eDiscovery and technical competencies including presenting for a law school class, leading CLE presentations, and sitting on panels.
Mr. Shubert is a member of the International Legal Technology Association, ARMA International, and Legal Operators. He has numerous certifications including iCONECT Project Manager & System Administrator, LAW PreDiscovery EDD Certification from LexisNexis, iManage Certified Trainer, and OneTrust Privacy Management Professional. He also has in-depth experience with other discovery platforms (e.g., iPro Eclipse, Concordance, Relativity, ZyLabs, etc.) and document and matter management systems (e.g., NetDocuments, Worldox; Ascent, etc.). With his technical aptitude, though, he finds most new tools intuitive and easy to pick-up as needed.
